Dr Vikas Manchanda

Profile

Dr Vikas Manchanda is Professor and Microbiology & Infection Control Officer at Maulana Azad Medical College and Associated Hospitals, New Delhi, where he also serves as In-charge of the Advance Virology Laboratory. He is a Member of the Project Review Committee at ICMR and serves on the Institutional Ethics Committees (IEC) of institutions including CNBC and IIT Delhi.

Over the course of his career, Dr Manchanda has held several significant leadership positions, including Chairman of the Technical Committee of NABH (2020–2023) and Member of its Technical Committee and Research Committee (2012–2017). He served as Vice-Chair of the External Affairs Committee of the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) from 2012 to 2016. He was formerly Medical Superintendent at CNBC, Delhi, and headed CNBC’s Surveillance & Infection Control Division, Laboratory Services, Quality Management Division, and Hospital Information Management System.

His contributions extend to public health consulting and policy, having served as a consultant to UNICEF on improving infection control practices during labour and delivery in Rajasthan and Odisha, and as a Member of the committee responsible for preparing National Antibiotic Treatment guidelines and State Infection Control Guidelines. He has authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and WHO monographs.
