Capt. (Dr) Usha Banerjee (Retd.) is the Group Director Nursing at Apollo Hospitals Group, with over three decades of exemplary leadership across Apollo Hospitals, Max Healthcare, Manipal Hospitals and the Indian Armed Forces. A distinguished healthcare visionary and transformational leader, she has been the driving force behind nursing excellence, patient safety imperatives, clinical governance, digital innovation, workforce transformation and global accreditation frameworks (JCI/NABH) across the Apollo ecosystem.
She has been pivotal in commissioning healthcare institutions, spearheading India’s first JCI accreditation journey at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi, and contributing significantly to national healthcare reforms including NABH standards, NABH Nursing Excellence framework, FICCI Nursing Reforms and Skill India initiatives.
An accomplished academician and thought leader, Capt. Banerjee holds a Ph.D. in Management, MBA (HR & Industrial Relations) and is an AFMC Gold Medalist. Her illustrious accolades include the President of India’s Medal, Countess Dufferin Medal, Jawaharlal Nehru Award, FICCI Nursing Excellence Award 2025, TNAI Nursing Excellence Award, VOH National Excellence Award in Nursing Administration, AHPI Nursing Excellence Award and numerous national and international recognitions for healthcare innovation and excellence.
