Membership & Fee Policy
Hospital Infection Society – India (HISI)
1. Purpose
This policy sets out the categories of membership offered by the Hospital Infection Society – India (HISI), the eligibility criteria and documentation required for each category, the applicable fees, and the terms governing verification, cancellation and refunds. All applicants and members are deemed to have read and accepted this policy at the time of registration.
2. Membership Categories, Eligibility & Fees
2.1 Life Membership — Fee: ₹6,500
Life membership is open to the following categories of professionals, subject to submission of the specified supporting document:
Doctors with MD, MCh or DM degrees — medical doctors who have completed MD, MCh or DM qualifications in any relevant discipline. Required document: a PDF copy of the highest degree certificate (MD/MCh/DM).
Doctors with MBBS and managerial experience in healthcare settings — MBBS-qualified doctors who have held managerial or administrative positions (e.g. Medical Superintendent, Medical Director, Quality/Infection Control Head, Departmental Head) in healthcare institutions. Required document: a single PDF comprising a detailed CV, MBBS degree certificate and copies of any higher degrees/diplomas.
Nursing personnel — nursing professionals working in clinical, infection prevention and control, quality or administrative roles in healthcare facilities. Required document: a PDF copy of the highest nursing qualification/degree.
CSSD managers — managers/supervisors of Central Sterile Services Departments (CSSD) or equivalent units. Required document: a PDF containing qualifications and a brief CV clearly reflecting current designation, institutional affiliation and relevant professional experience.
2.2 Associate Membership — Fee: ₹3,500
Associate membership is offered to the following categories, subject to submission of the specified supporting document:
MBBS doctors — doctors who have completed MBBS but do not yet meet the criteria for Life Membership. Required document: a PDF copy of the MBBS degree certificate.
MBBS students — students currently enrolled in a recognized medical college. Required document: a letter (PDF) from the Dean/Principal confirming current student status.
Nursing students — students enrolled in a recognized nursing program (GNM, BSc Nursing, MSc Nursing, etc.). Required document: a letter (PDF) from the Dean/Principal confirming current student status.
OT/CSSD technicians — technicians working in operation theatres (OT) and Central Sterile Services Departments (CSSD). Required document: a letter (PDF) from the Medical Superintendent/Medical Director certifying employment, designation and current role.
Associate members do not have voting rights. They are encouraged to participate in academic and educational activities organised by HISI or its affiliates.
3. Upgradation from Associate to Life Membership
An Associate member may upgrade to Life Membership once they subsequently meet any of the eligibility criteria listed under Life Membership (Section 2.1). At the time of upgradation, the member is required to pay the balance fee applicable for Life Membership as per the prevailing rates, and to submit updated documentation supporting the new eligibility category.
4. Application, Verification & Approval Process
All membership applications are submitted online together with the required supporting document(s) listed in Section 2. Applications are reviewed and verified by HISI's designated reviewers before membership is confirmed. Under normal circumstances, the process of review is expected to take 48-72 business hours.
5. Payment Terms
Membership fees are payable online at the time of application via the payment methods made available on the HISI website. A membership application is not considered complete until payment has been successfully received.
6. Verification of Credentials, Cancellation & Refund Policy
All membership applications are liable to verification of the credentials and supporting documents submitted by the applicant. In case any discrepancy is detected, or if the credentials and/or documents provided are found to be incorrect, misleading or fraudulent, the membership shall be cancelled immediately.
No refunds shall be made in respect of membership fees paid by members who are debarred or whose membership has been cancelled on account of incorrect or fraudulent information.
7. Amendments to this Policy
HISI reserves the right to amend this Membership & Fee Policy from time to time. The version in effect on the HISI website at the time of application shall apply to that application.
8. Acknowledgement
By proceeding with a membership application on the HISI website, the applicant confirms that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by this Membership & Fee Policy.
